Ombre hair doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. It’s too much of a fashionable and trendy look to give up. Ombre is French and means shaded like a gradient. Oh la la! The majority of celebs are rocking those fly locks in all sorts of shades. Here’s why most celebs love the Ombre:

1. Fewer trips to the salon.
2.Low maintenance.
3.Gives the appearance of youthful look and locks.

Now there are things to consider when getting an Ombre. You want to make sure that the hair stylist specializes in the artistry of painting. Have a consultation with a hair stylist. Bring a photo of what you want to achieve. You want to discuss what tones work best with your skin, eyes, work environment, and  personality. You also want to discuss whether your hair has been previously dyed, is at its natural color state, and whether it is healthy enough. Chemically treated hair may be a bit more work if your current color needs to be color corrected. Not ready for salon prices? Don’t want anything too permanent? There are some over-the-counter kits that allow you to get this coveted look right at home. Remember read all the directions thoroughly and visit there sites for more information or tutorials.

With any extreme heat or chemical hair process, there is going to be some damage. However if you are in a good habit of deep conditioning or applying hair masks to your locks, the chances are your hair will be able to handle the process. If you’re not in the habit, just know that it will be important for you to start ASAP once you’ve had your Ombre.
Here’s some advice from NYC based Professional Hair Color Artist, Jordana Canales. “First and foremost an Ombre is a fun, hip modern look. The person who decides to have an Ombre must be full of confidence to rock this retro look. The most important thing in any hair process is health. We as hair dressers want to preserve that no matter what. Hair is personal and everyone customizes it to their taste. That’s whats great about an Ombre. It allows room for lots of creativity to execute your personal look.”
