Spider Man, Turn off the Dark actor, Daniel Curry, was badly injured on August 15th during the second act of the evening’s performance. According to production spokesperson Rick Miramontez, Curry is “in stable condition having sustained an injury to his foot.”
Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Curry’s contribution to the NYC dance community is widespread. His previous credits include: dancing in the tour of Man in the Mirror – A Tribute to Michael Jackson and MTV’s VMA promo with recording artist, Ne-Yo. He trained at LaGuardia School of Performing Arts, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Children’s Theatre Co, and is also a Broadway Dance Center (BDC) Street Styles substitute teacher.
From September 1st-14th, BDC will be hosting DONATION classes where all the proceeds will go to Daniel to aid in his recovery. Teachers participating include Jon Rua, Princess Lockerooo, Kourtni LInd, and more! For more information, click here! Please participate!
Fly Gyal wishes you a super spidey recovery Daniel!
JON RUA #Dance@TheGym2k13
Check out this modern, urban broadway, “what if,” rendition of West Side Story. I love how Mr. Rua captures the classic love story and iconic rivaled Sharks vs. Jets dance battle in his own way. The dancers give it there all and really “go there” with the movement, acting, and use of space. They use their entire bodies to interpret and share the story, from the hair on their heads to their most distal phalange, and they weren’t afraid to be vulnerable. Especially with that (SPOLER ALERT!) make-out session at the end 😉
