Lately in my classes I have been asked several questions from students that center around the issue of interjecting performance while your learning choreography either in class or ultimately in auditions, and rehearsals. This is often hard for dancers who are newer to the industry and have less performance experience. It is something that definitely will progress over time, however there are a few strategies you can use mentally to help you add in performance while you learn the choreography so that you can have it that much more natural to your body when the time comes to perform it.
In this week’s “The Artist Influence” we talk about this question and a strategy you can use the next time your learning choreography to help you add more performance quality and texture to your movement.
