This past month I’ve had the pleasure of highlighting the best dance fashion trends of 2014. From flirty florals to west coast swag this year is shaping up to be a bold one (in terms of fashion at least). This week I round out my list with four more swanky trends you gotta try at least once this year! Trust me, everyone can pull off these looks with the help of our often forgotten accessory called, confidence!
Last year sheer was emancipated into the fashion books as a “minimal is best” policy. Patches and insets made of sheer material graced wardrobe pieces in every boutique and multinational retail-clothing company. Well, this year designers are taking it to the extreme. Come summer time, you will see racks of full sheer skirts, blouses, and trousers. I especially love the pleated sheer mid-length skirts, and sheer crops.
Style Tip: Please remember to cover up all your private areas before stepping out the house in your sheer ensemb. Keep it classy my friends.

This year, your favorite team-inspired jersey shirts and dresses are an awesome way to show your loyalty in a street chic way. As seen on the runway in Tommy Hilfiger’s S/S 2014 collection, colorful jersey’s are making a comeback. I mean, why not?! Perfect for intense dance days, the material is super breathable, plus it pairs perfectly with shorts, jeans or by itself as a dress. Whether you’re dancing relentlessly at a convention, workshop or class you’ll definitely want to get your hands on a few jersey tanks and tees.
Style Tip: If you have a super long tank, don’t be afraid to convert it into a flirty dress by pairing it with cute pumps and gold jewelry to match. Add a beanie for uber street chic brownie points!

Add a dash of prep to your step this dance season with dope letterman jackets and cardigans, colorful tartan pieces, vintage converses, and bright yellow and red pants. Think high school varsity prep kid meets NY Williamsburg hipster and you’ve got this year’s “prepster” look. Make your swag unique by layering your favorite accessories like natural hemp bracelets, brown leather-band watches and midi-rings. My favorite look is from Tommy Hilfiger’s 2013/2014 fall/winter campaign (pictured below).

Tees are making a bold statement in the fashion industry this year. For example, big names like Karl Lagerfeld and Tokidoki recently teamed up to create a collection of graphic art tees illustrating Chanel’s head designer as a funky cartoon character in bold black brush strokes, and modern graphic design elements. Also seen on the S/S 2014 runway were shirts designed by the VFiles. They get creative by wrapping shirts around the model’s waist. However, if you can’t (or don’t want to) afford to buy a top designer tee, I highly recommend browsing other, just as awesome, options. I personally love t-shirts with vintage graphic slogans, logos, and textured tees with dimension.
